Scuba Diving in the Exuma Cays

There are normally 3 or 4 dives available each day, and 2 or 3 night dives offered on each trip. You'll leave with a log book full of new memories and wonderful sightings!

Dive Sites

Enjoy diving that's only accessible on a liveaboard like the Exumas Land & Sea Park, thrilling shark feeding dives, wall dives, exhilarating high speed drift dives, blue holes, and more!

Blackbeard's has moorings on 250 sites throughout the Bahamas so we can dive without damaging the reefs with the anchor. You can visit Blackbeard's website for more info.

Dive Sights

Parts of the Exumas have been protected for over 30 years, and fishing is banned. Under this protection the reefs have flourished and you'll be amazed by the variety of fish and critters you can see:

Eagle RaysMoray Eels

Shark Dive

The Exumas are one of the best places to see sharks, so this is your chance to get up close to Caribbean reef, black tip, and nurse sharks. This really is a dive you'll remember forever!

Topside Activities in the Exuma Cays

The Exuma Cays are home to some incredible, and unique eco adventures that you can experience on a liveaboard! Feed the iguanas on Allen's Cay, snorkel the plane at Norman's, bonfires at Warderick Wells, flora and fauna history hikes to Boo Boo Hill, mangrove snorkels, and cave exploration! Each week, the captain will squeeze in at least one of these neat activities.

Like fishing? Fishing gear is available on board and whatever you catch that's edible is cooked for passengers, or used for sushi. The rest is kept for the shark dive chumsicle. However, you can't fish while in the Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park.

About Blackbeard's Cruises

For over 35 years, Blackbeard's has been showing divers the best kept secret of the Bahamas- the Exuma Cays, southwest Eleuthera, and Little San Salvador. The incredible diving, the camaraderie, and the low price are why Blackbeard's slogan is "Twice the Fun, Half the Cost". You won't get more for your diving dollar anywhere else!

The 65-ft sailboat carries up to 22 passengers in 4 air conditioned, dormitory-style cabin areas. Bunks are 74" in length, with doubles 48" wide and singles 24" to 36" wide. There's a shelf at the end of each bunk where you can store your clothes and other personal items. Each bunk has a privacy curtain, but completely private cabins aren't available. While there isn't a lot of privacy, the fun and adventure more than makes up for it.

Food & Drink

3 complete meals are served daily. Typical American fare is served like baked chicken, pork loin, lasagna, meatballs, plus all the sides and dessert too! There's always fresh fruit for those between-meal snacks, and PB & J. A selection of drinks is always on hand including lemonade, pop, beer, wine, and rum punch.

Dive Facilities

Blackbeard's provides tanks, weights, and belts. There's lots of storage space for dive gear so the boat is always clutter free. There are rinse buckets for regulators and cameras, and there's a dedicated area for camera equipment.

Blackbeard's has an electric 7 CFM compressor. The electric compressor keeps the noise down compared to gas ones. Maybe the most convenient feature for divers is that the compressor is hooked right up to the tank bench. They'll fill your tank on the spot so you never have to switch your system to a new tank.

Jesse's Experience

"Blackbeard's was my first experience with a liveaboard and while I never thought of myself as a boat person, the staff and setup made it one of the most comfortable weeks of diving I've ever done.

"The diving is fantastic; most are wall dives, thoroughly briefed by an instructor, allowing us to dive both informed and comfortable along gorgeous cliffs filed with life. The weekly shark dive is of course a highlight as it offers the chance to see these beautiful animals up close, but each dive offers encounters with turtles, lobster, octopi, rays, sharks, and hundreds of fish species living on the reefs in abundance.

"The boat itself is very much set up with divers as the first priority. There are dedicated areas for camera equipment, compartments to stow away gear so the boat is never cluttered, and the compressor is hooked right up to the bench where you you sit to put on your gear, meaning that you never have to switch your system from one tank to another.

"Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions, but if I'm
not around our whole crew is ready to help. We look forward to
hearing from you!"
