The Diving

Just about every diver who has experienced its reefs has stated that Little Cayman is one of the world's premier dive destinations with pristine reefs, excellent visibility and incredible diving.

The Cayman Islands have strict Marine Conservation Laws and many of Little Cayman's dive sites are within protected Marine Park Zones, including the legendary Bloody Bay Wall.

Coral canyons and sand chutes lead you through the pristine deep blue waters of the outer reef before plunging to 6000 feet. These exhilarating walls are covered with brightly hued sponges, corals and sea fans. The Caymans' trademark turtles are a common sight and eagle rays, angelfish, reef sharks and grouper count among the 500 species of fish that have been documented here.

The 80°F (27°C) water is second to none when it comes to clarity and it's said that more underwater photographs are taken in the Cayman Islands than in any other Caribbean destinations.

Please visit LCBR's website for more info about the diving.

Little Cayman Island

Little Cayman is the smallest of the Cayman Islands. It's only about 16 km long by 2 km wide, has a maximum 40-ft elevation, and has less than 170 residents. Little Cayman epitomizes the definition of "an island getaway", offering seclusion and striking scenery everywhere you look.

Little Cayman saw few visitors until recent times so the lack of human impact has allowed the wildlife, reefs and marine life to flourish. The island is home to the endangered Lesser Caymans iguana, and the largest colony of red-footed booby birds in the Caribbean. In fact, the 260-acre Booby Pond Reserve is a RAMSAR wetland of international importance.

You can spend your afternoons lounging on the beautiful white sand beaches, bike riding, hiking the Salt Rocks Nature Trail, or visiting the Little Cayman Museum, Little Cayman Marine Museum, or National Trust House.

Reef Divers Cayman Islands

Reef Divers Cayman Islands is the on-resort dive center. All dive crew members have a minimum certification level of instructor. They're very well organised and provide excellent safety briefings before each dive. They bring your gear back to the dive platform so you don't have to waddle across the boat with everything on. They'll help you get your gear on and off and even change your tanks between dives.

Reef Diver's guests enjoy four custom-designed dive boats that are built to American Bureau of Shipping specifications by Newton Boats, Inc. These boats are a diver's dream with a 42- or 46-foot length, 16-foot width, and a cruising speed of 20 mph. The boats are full of creature comforts and safety features.

Please visit LCBR's website for more info about their dive center and crew.

Going with Water Sports: Paul's Experience

"I went to Little Cayman Beach Resort in July 2015 and I'm really looking forward to going back!

"The LCBR's dive operation, Reef Divers, is one of the best-run dive operations I've had the pleasure of diving with in my 20 years of owning Water Sports. The professionalism of the crew and the spacious boats really put me at ease and let me focus of having a good time. I was very happy to see that they put such an emphasis on safety. This is definitely a first class dive opertation!

"The diving was amazing with some of the clearest water I've seen in years. There are hundreds of dive sites and we spotted turtles on every dive. They even seemed to enjoy checking out the divers. Barracuda, trunk fish, sharks, rays, lobster, squid, grunts, and other fish were abundant. The reefs are in great shape with lots of black coral, soft coral, and giant barrel sponges. I especially like the numerous swim-through and wall dives.

"The trip is the whole package: a great dive operator, amazing reefs with tons of sea life, a beautiful island and beach, and a great resort with delicious food (I especially liked the prime rib). I really do think it's a bargain for the price.

"There are only 12 spaces available so if you're interested don't wait to sign up! I'll personally be leading this trip so please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions! But, if I'm not around our whole crew is here to help. We look forward to hearing from you!"
