Don’t be intimidated by the name- this course is designed to make you a more confident diver by advancing your skills to broaden your dive horizons!
The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course is designed to build on the scuba diving fundamentals you learned in the Open Water Diver course, and to broaden your diving knowledge and skills in a variety new ways.
This course is a great next step for all certified PADI Open Water Divers.
The Advanced Open Water Diver course is made up of five Adventure Dives. Each of these dives offer specialized training to develop your capabilities, and build confidence for a specific type of diving. Two of the dives are required – Deep, and Underwater Navigation – but you and your instructor will choose the other three dives.
Adventure Dives (availability varies by dive location):
FYI, you can even credit your adventure dives toward the first dive of the corresponding PADI Specialty Diver course.
Each Adventure Dive is broken down into 2 sections.
Study and understand more principles of scuba diving.
Learn new scuba diving skills in a real-world environment.
Learn fundamental scuba concepts from the convenience of your desktop, laptop, tablet, or mobile device with the PADI eLearning program.
For example, during the Deep Adventure Dive you'll learn how to plan dives to be able to deal with the physiological effects and challenges of deeper scuba diving.
Put what you've learned into practice, and hit the open water of a river, lake, or ocean. Once these dives are complete, you'll officially be a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver.
For example, during the Underwater Navigation Adventure Dive you'll refine your compass navigation skills and learn to better navigate using kick-cycles, visual landmarks and time.
